Can a wild chick be raised on handfeed formula?

my grandaughter found a baby chick outside we are not yet sure what kind of bird it is but it has a heart shaped tongue meaning it is a insect eating bird. Since I own an aviary we got out the hand feed formula and it seems to be doing alright at the moment on it but I need to know if the formula will provide enough nutrition for it to grow, and if not what is the best way to provide for it.
