Degree in dance/muscial theatre?

Hi! I want to be a dancer when I leave school and things. I was originally considering auditioning for a diploma course at a school like Italia Conti or Laines when I was 16 but I won't be ready/good enough by them and I want to do A Levels 'just in case' so I was thinking about a degree in professional dancer and musical theatre but is that the right course for an aspiring performer?
